Celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day
by The Hamilton Spectator from on (#60M9J)
Events to mark National Indigenous Peoples Day were held in both Six Nations and Hamilton on Tuesday.
At the Gaylord Powless Arena in Ohsweken, Six Nations residents gathered to mark the day in large crowds for the first time since prior to the pandemic. A midway, food vendors and artisans were on hand for visitors.
At Hamilton city hall, an afternoon gathering celebrated Indigenous traditions and culture, as well as provided an opportunity for Indigenous knowledge-sharing, singing and drumming.
