Neighbourhood Durand
Features Located near the bottom of the escarpment and a short walk from Locke Street South, this house is one of two properties in the neighbourhood listed for more than $2 million.
Nestled on Hess Street South, the six-bedroom, four-bathroom home boasts more than 4,500 square feet of living space and has been completely redesigned," said Luke O'Reilly, a broker with Royal LePage State Realty.
O'Reilly, who sold the house to the current owners in 2018, said renovations on the home took five months to complete. The house now features European hardwood flooring, designer light fixtures, porcelain kitchen countertops and solid brass hardware.
Their goal with the project was to blend the century home's historic charm with touches of modern luxury throughout," he said. Everything was extremely well thought through."
On the main floor, there is a large, updated kitchen with a centre island, a breakfast nook, a walk-in pantry with built-in shelving as well as a family room, a living room and a formal dining area.
On the second floor, there are three bedrooms in addition to the primary bedroom, which has a five-piece ensuite bathroom with a soaker tub, two walk-in closets and a reading nook by a bay window.
In the basement, there is a recreation room with a children's climbing wall as well as a cedar wine cellar and tasting room. The backyard of the home is also fully-fenced and there is a covered veranda at the front of the house.
O'Reilly noted that the property would be ideal for either a family or busy professionals looking for something move-in ready."
Why is it priced this way? O'Reilly said he and the owners landed on the price after comparing the home - including its size, sought after" location and renovations - to other properties in the area. Homes of this calibre don't come up for sale very often," he noted.
A smaller home on nearby Chedoke Avenue sold for $2.6 million in April.
