Three children were hurt, including one child with serious injuries, in a single-vehicle crash in Caledonia Sunday evening.

Emergency services were called to the collision on Highway 6, south of Greens Road, shortly before 8 p.m. June 26. They found a single vehicle that had left the road and flipped on its side, said Ontario Provincial Police.

Three children were taken to hospital - one with serious injuries and two with minor injuries.

The driver, who was not hurt, had an expired driver's licence, said Haldimand County OPP.

Police said they noticed signs of impairment while speaking with the driver, and they conducted a roadside test. The driver registered an alert" and was handed a three-day suspension.

In Ontario, a driver with a blood-alcohol concentration between 0.05 and 0.079 or who fails the standard field sobriety test can face automatic penalties. For a first-time offender, this includes a three-day licence suspension.

OPP continue to investigate the crash.
