Hamilton police investigating three overnight shootings
Hamilton police are investigating three shootings that happened within an hour-and-20-minute span Monday night.
One person suffered non-life-threatening injuries in one of the shootings and no one was hurt in the other two incidents late June 27, police said.
The first shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. at an Airbnb rental in the area of Mohawk Road West and Magnolia Drive on the Mountain. Police determined that one of the occupants negligently discharged a firearm" in the residence causing minor damage. No one was hurt.
Police are looking for a suspect described as a white man in his 30s, five-foot-nine, with an average build.
Ten minutes after this shooting police were called to a second shooting around 10:40 p.m. at Main Street East and Holton Avenue South. One person was transported to hospital by paramedics with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect, who fled the area before police arrived, is described as a Black man, five-foot-10, with short dreadlocks and wearing a blue track suit and white sneakers.
A little more than an hour later around 11:50 p.m. police were called to a third shooting, this one at Douglas Avenue and Mars Avenue in north Hamilton.
Police on scene confirmed multiple shots had been fired into a residence. No one was hurt, police said.
Detectives are asking anyone in the area, near Burlington Street East and Wentworth Street North, with surveillance cameras to review footage between 11:15 p.m. and midnight. Police are also asking for anyone driving in the area who had dash camera footage to review it for suspicious activity and contact police.
There have been at least 19 shootings reported to police in Hamilton this year, including eight this month alone.
