Capitals trade Vanecek to Devils for picks

The Washington Capitals traded goaltender Vitek Vanecek and the 46th pick in the 2022 NHL Draft to the New Jersey Devils for the No. 37 and No. 70 selections, the Devils announced on Friday.
Vanecek appeared in 42 games for the Capitals in 2021-22. The 26-year-old posted a 20-12 record with a 2.67 GAA and .908 save percentage. He also recorded four shutouts.
There have been a number of moves involving netminders in recent days. On Friday, the Detroit Red Wings acquired Ville Husso from the St. Louis Blues, which followed trades involving Petr Mrazek and Alexandar Georgiev on Thursday.
