Hamilton police called to incident involving axe and blow torch at Melvin Avenue apartment
Hamilton police responded to an incident involving an axe and a blow torch at a Melvin Avenue apartment building Thursday night.
Police responded to a weapons and assault in progress call involving an axe at 221 Melvin Ave. a little before 9 p.m., said Const. Krista-Lee Ernst.
It is believed a man came at another man with an axe and the second man responded by wielding a blow torch.
However, neither of the two parties involved wanted to participate in the investigation or pursue assault charges. No one was taken to hospital for treatment of any injuries. Police said the men knew each other.
A 35-year-old Hamilton man was arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking of cocaine, psilocybin and fentanyl, along with operation while prohibited, fail to comply with probation and driving while suspended. He was also wanted by Ontario Provincial Police on a drug possession charge.
A 29-year-old man was not charged.
