A woman was pronounced dead after what was classified as an extreme fall" Sunday at Skydive Burnaby in Wainfleet.

Niagara Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Bryce Brunarski said paramedics were called at 3:30 p.m.

When the Wainfleet community response unit arrived, paramedics found bystanders performing CPR on a female, he said.

The EMS unit is based out of Fire Station 2 on Park Street, about seven kilometres to the northwest.

Wainfleet Fire and Emergency Services and Niagara Regional Police also responded to the scene on Burnaby Road.

Brunarski said that when firefighters arrived, they took over CPR. An assessment by paramedics found the skydiver was suffering multisystem trauma.

Ornge air ambulance was dispatched and responded but called off when the skydiver was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other information was available. Police said they are not investigating the incident.
