The San Jose Sharks added forward Nico Sturm, general manager Mike Grier confirmed, according to NBCS Sharks' Sheng Peng.

Sturm signed a three-year pact with an average annual value of $2 million, according to TSN's Pierre LeBrun.

The 27-year-old Sturm won the 2022 Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche after being traded from the Minnesota Wild prior to the deadline. He logged nine goals and 11 assists in 74 contests split between the two squads. He added a pair of assists in 13 postseason games with the Avs.

The Sharks also signed defenseman Matt Benning to a four-year contract.

Benning's deal carries an AAV of $1.25 million, per Curtis Pashelka of Bay Area News.

The 28-year-old recorded 11 assists in 65 games with the Nashville Predators last season.

"Matt is a steady, veteran defenseman who plays with a physical edge and can chip in offensively," Grier said. "His age and style of play fit well with our existing group."
