A list of go-to ice cream spots around Hamilton

We've said it before and we'll say it again.
I scream, you scream. We all scream for ice cream!"
Why? Because the third Sunday in July is National Ice Cream Day - the coolest day of the summer.
In Hamilton and beyond, everyone has a go-to ice cream joint. Here's a list of some of our favourites to hit up on July 17, or even sooner.
Why wait?
- Biggies Ice Cream, 519 Upper Sherman Ave., Hamilton. You might have to wait in line but the giant scoops of Hewitt's ice cream never let you down. Park on the street along Brucedale Avenue East. Summer hours are 2 to 10 p.m. daily.
- OMG Ice Cream & Frozen Treats, 1047 King St. W. Hamilton. The Brantford-based company brings soft serve, frozen yogurt, sandwich-style and more to Hamilton, their third location. Try ice cream tacos this summer at the Westdale store.
- La Diperie, 973 Rymal Rd. E., west of Upper Gage in Hamilton. They say they are prepared to dip almost everything." They offer ice cream, doughnuts, Cheesecake Factory cakes and more from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily (with slightly condensed hours Sunday).
- Bernie's Tavern, 1103 Cannon St. E., Hamilton. It doesn't have to be an ice cream shop. Enjoy this eatery's ice cream sandwich dipped in Skor bits on the patio.
- Chocolat on James, 123 James St. N., Hamilton. Start with your favourite cone, bowl or base, add soft serve and toppings and the result is a flavour explosion. The ice cream bar opens is open from 12 to 10 p.m. daily.
- The Arbor, 101 Main St., Port Dover. Nothing screams summer like stopping for ice cream at this beachy hangout.
- Ancaster Ice Cream Parlour, 286 Jerseyville Rd. W., Ancaster.
- Amo Gelato Caffe, 171 Locke St. S., Hamilton.
- Aunt Jean Creams, 36 Parkdale Ave. N., Hamilton.
