Dreamworld rollercoaster was built with $2.7m tagged for koala research, government says

Tourism minister Stirling Hinchliffe says funds were diverted to theme park ride after koala project delayed

Almost $3m of taxpayer money handed to a Queensland theme park for a state-of-the-art facility to protect endangered koalas has been diverted to build a flashy new rollercoaster.

The Queensland government provided $2.7m to build the Future Lab wildlife research centre at Dreamworld, on the Gold Coast, in 2019.
