Two-day heat event for Hamilton brings weekend weather warnings
Another heat event is expected in Hamilton this weekend with warnings about scorching weather.
Environment Canada and Hamilton's medical officer of health posted alerts about the high temperatures Saturday and Sunday.
The notices warned of temperatures in the high 20s or low 30s C and with the humidex making the weather feel like high 30s or low 40s.
Evening temperatures are not expected to drop below 20 C bringing little relief from the heat," the Environment Canada warning said.
Cooler weather is expected Monday.
The weekend's forecast calls for high temperatures of 31 C both days and lows of 21 C overnight. The national weather agency calls for a 30 per cent chance of showers both Saturday and Sunday.
Hamilton is activating its cooling places during the heat event, marked by signs saying cool down here." All public open swims at city facilities will be free. Check out a list of all the swimming spots.
