Port Stephens growers say entire crops have been lost, workers are being laid off and consumers face higher prices

Back-to-back flooding and a deadly parasitic outbreak have left oyster farmers across New South Wales devastated as entire crops are lost and workers laid off.

An outbreak of the deadly QX parasite began two months ago in Port Stephens and has had disastrous effects on the $8m industry in the Hunter town and left consumers facing higher prices.
