‘We’ve been looking forward to this’: Canada’s Largest Ribfest returns to Burlington

It's back.

Canada's Largest Ribfest will return to Burlington's Spencer Smith Park from Sept. 2 to 5. The event will feature 16 rib teams, a midway, marketplace and two stages of musical acts.

Ribfest is a fundraising initiative of Burlington Rotary Lakeshore and over the years has raised more than $4.5 million for local, national, and international charities.

Brent Paszt, past president of Rotary Burlington Lakeshore, and co-chair of the event, said the event is back where it belongs.

"For the past two years we've been looking forward to this year's homecoming weekend, as we will be celebrating our 25th edition back home in Spencer Smith Park, right where we belong," said Paszt.

As a result of the pandemic, ribfest moved to a drive-thru model the previous two years.

Jay Bridle, Canada's Largest Ribfest co-chair, said supporters continued to come out for the pandemic-friendly version of the event.

We've had tremendous support for our Drive-thru Ribfests. But, like everyone else, we all want to be back in Spencer Smith Park at the end of summer, and we know our guests are looking forward to being back right along with us," said Bridle.

Ribbers in attendance include Camp 31 BBQ, Billy Bones BBQ, Sticky Fingers and Uncle Sam's BBQ Stand.

In addition to the food, Burlington's Cam Bogle will be performing at the event on Saturday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. He recently performed as one of the eight emerging artists at the Boots and Hearts Festival.
