Woman injured after falling 40-feet from Dundas trail
The Hamilton Paramedic Service says a woman was taken to hospital in serious condition after a rope rescue in Dundas, Sunday afternoon.
Supt. Dave Thompson told The Spectator that just before 1:30 p.m., emergency services were called to the area of Ofield and Harvest roads near Tew Falls in the Spencer Gorge Conservation Area.
Dozens of fire trucks were also dispatched to the call, according to tweets from the Hamilton Fire department.
In an email, the fire department said the rescue team setup and rescued two people, bringing each of them up of them up separately. Both were then transferred to paramedics and crews left the scene around 4:30 p.m.
Thompson said following the rescue, paramedics transported a woman, believed to be in her 20s, to a local trauma centre in serious, but stable condition. He noted that its believed the woman fell at least 40 feet down from the trail.
Another patient was assessed, but they were not injured, he added.
