Hamilton police are asking for the public's help in locating a suspect after a shooting in central Hamilton Thursday morning.

Police say they received reports of shots fired" on Kinrade Avenue, a north-south residential street that runs between Cannon Street East and Barton Street East just west of Sherman Avenue North, at around 10:45 a.m.

Officers learned two witnesses had intervened when they saw a male assaulting a female," police said in a Sept. 1 release.

The suspect then drew a hand gun and fired a shot at the two males," police said, adding that the woman left in a vehicle.

Hamilton police spokesperson Jackie Penman said no one was injured.

Police say the suspect fled east on Barton Street.

The suspect is described by police as a five-foot-nine white man in his mid-30s, wearing a black T-shirt, blue shorts, black baseball hat and a gold chain.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at the following numbers: 905-546-4725, 905-546-3818 or 905-546-3833.
