Report: Intel considering acquiring Altera

Intel and FPGA maker Altera have been working together for some time. The two firms collaborated on an Atom processor with an embedded FPGA back in 2010, and a few years later, Altera inked a deal to have some of its chips fabbed on Intel's 14-nm processs. Now, the Wall Street Journal is reporting that Intel is considering buying Altera outright.
