The rain let up just in time for the parade to get underway.

The Hamilton and District Labour Council wound its way through the city core Monday after a two-year absence due to the pandemic.

We held car caravans (during the pandemic)," said Anthony Marco, president of the council.

I am really happy to be back. It is really good to see people in person.

For some people this is an institution."

In the past, the parade has seen almost 10,000 marchers. Monday's crowd was smaller. Marco said invitations go out to almost 75 locals.

The parade made its way back to Bayfront Park for a barbecue and party.
