The Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson have been discussing a contract extension during the offseason. However, there's "nothing imminent" on that front, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Jackson told reporters Wednesday that he and the team are still discussing a contract extension and that Friday is the deadline to get a deal done. The Ravens open their season Sunday against the New York Jets.

Jackson is looking for a fully guaranteed deal or close to it, similar to Deshaun Watson's fully guaranteed $230-million pact, according to Rapoport.

Russell Wilson is the latest quarterback to get an extension, signing a five-year year, $245-million contract with $161 million guaranteed. Wilson's deal won't help Jackson in his negotiations, Rapoport adds.

Jackson is heading into the final year of his rookie contract. He will make $23 million this season after making only $9.4 million in his first four campaigns combined.

The 25-year-old missed the final four games of last season due to an ankle injury. He has fully recovered and will start Week 1 against the Jets.
