Hamilton police are investigating a hit-and-run case after a 27-year-old woman was hit by a vehicle in the Hamilton Mountain area late Friday night.

The woman was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries after she was struck by an eastbound motor vehicle," the police said in a release.

She was a pedestrian crossing the street," Staff Sgt. Paul Corrigan told The Spectator.

Her conditions deteriorated overnight," he added.

The motor vehicle drove away from the scene and was last seen eastbound on Mohawk Rd. passing Upper Ottawa St, the police said.

Police are looking for a grey or silver four door motor vehicle, possibly an older model Honda Civic that may have damage to its passenger mirror.

Mohawk Road between Upper Ottawa and East 45th St was closed for investigation Saturday morning, and was opened to vehicles at 1:15 p.m.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the unit at 905-546-8970
