AGH Fest is back with 10 days of arts and culture
Even though we are still recovering from Supercrawl, the city is already gearing up for another big festival.
From Oct. 14 to 23, the Art Gallery of Hamilton is presenting 10 days of events with pop-ups, workshops, visual art, films and performances.
The AGH is committed to celebrating and raising the profile of the arts in Hamilton at a time when the city has become a magnet for artists and culture," said Shelley Falconer, AGH president and CEO, in a release. I am delighted that this event will be an annual fixture in the city's cultural calendar."
In addition to exploring the AGH spaces, the festival is also hosting and co-presenting cinematic screenings and performance events at three different locations: Mills Hardware, the Westdale cinema and at the Afro Canadian Caribbean Association banquet hall.
Another feature of the festival will be an Artisan Market" on Sunday afternoons with local makers, artists and designers. A lounge for creativity is also happening throughout the festival. The Collective Arts Lounge" will have performances and spaces for children and families to create together.
Four admission-free exhibits will be available at the AGH during the festival: The Living Vault: The Collection and Performance," The Bigger Picture: Art in Hamilton 1950-2000," Gatherings: Roger Ferreira and Kareem-Anthony Ferreira" and RBC Artist in Residence: Nathan Eugene Carson.
The AGH is truly at its best when it can bring a wide range of people together, communities that otherwise don't connect, and then use artists and culture to electrify and connect them," said Tor Lukasik-Foss, head of programing and education at the AGH in a release.
