September listings: Hamilton’s most and least expensive homes on the market

As the housing market, once a bubbling cauldron of red-hot possibility, starts to cool, home prices are expected to further drop.

But inflation has pushed interest rates higher and higher, making it harder and harder for Hamiltonians to qualify for mortgages.

The rental market is skyrocketing, with the average one-bedroom costing $1,696 a month, plunging any thought of affordability out of mind.

To make matters more dire, one economist is calling for a year-long recession.

So with that, here are Hamilton's most and least expensive homes listed on Zoocasa, as of Sept. 18.

Five lowest-priced homes

8 - 1085 10th Concession Rd. W.

This rural bungalow is located in the Rocky Ridge Estates, a mobile home park in Freelton, which comes with added monthly costs ($700 for land lease, $42.25 for water testing and lab work). This one-bedroom modular home listed at $329,900 is close to nature and has plenty of land to build a garage. This property was previously listed in June for $349,500.

102 - 87 Duke St.

Get in on the ground floor of this Durand condo unit for $339,900. It's a one-bed, one-bath unit, with a newly renovated kitchen that maximizes space. Comes with your very own underground parking spot as well as in-suite laundry and a fireplace wall feature.

2807 - 150 Charlton Ave. E.

It's all about highrise living for this Corktown condo, listed for $359,000. Enjoy the various building amenities that this one-bedroom, one-bathroom home has to offer. There's even a private balcony.

602 - 222 Jackson St. W.

If you like carpet and retro finishes, this condo in Durand might be worth checking out. Listed for $364,900, it boasts treetop views toward the bay and a balcony. This one-bedroom unit comes with its very own parking space, storage room and in-suite laundry.

33 Shaw St.

This semi-detached home in the industrial sector, listed at $409,777, comes with a shed in the small backyard. Notably absent from the listing are any photos of the inside, so expect major renovations to be necessary.

Five highest-priced homes

902 Shaver Rd.

This private estate hunkered in rural Ancaster is surrounded by tall trees and sits on 90 acres right on the urban boundary. The home, listed for $5,190,000, was custom built in 1987. There are winding creeks and two ponds on the property, as well as a screened-in pool house, sauna and separate cabin.

907 Montgomery Dr.

This looks to be a newer, custom-built home in Ancaster overlooking Tiffany Falls. Listed at $4,699,999, it has 7,000 square feet of living space. There are six bathrooms, four bedrooms, space for 11 cars and a blank canvas of a backyard, blissfully ready for your very own garden oasis.

1521 Milburough Town Line

This striking Carlisle farm property listed at $4,100,000 has an abundance of bedrooms, a separate carriage house and sits on 10 acres. A tremendous wraparound porch invites you to indulge in a sweet tea whilst basking in the country sun.

796 Ridge Rd.
