Cosplayers celebrate pop culture at Hamilton Comic Con
Imagine a room filled with all your favourite movie and comic book characters. From Pokemon's Pikachu to Star Wars stormtroopers, Hamilton Comic Con is gathering cosplayers and pop culture enthusiasts of all kinds at Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum this weekend.
In the Harry Potter booth, visitors can experience a sorting hat ceremony and take photos with Severus Snape, Gilderoy Lockhart and Harry Potter cosplayers.
I built the costume with the help of some friends," said Harry Potter cosplayer Matt Mackenzie in a British accent.
Mackenzie, whose hobby group has travelled to various conventions, said he was surprised" by the turnout in Hamilton because it's a new venue."
Roza Chamorro became an instant Comic Con celebrity wearing a full body suit of X-Men character Mystique.
I got almost everything from Amazon and I'm having a great time," Chamorro said as she stopped for another photo.
Cosplayers lined up to get photos and autographs from their favourite actors and the best seats for Q&As and panels with celebrity guests.
Saturday's guests include R.J. Mitte from Breaking Bad"; Deep Roy, known for roles in the Star Wars and Star Trek franchises as well as The NeverEnding Story" and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," and a Yo Home to Bel-Air" panel and Q&A with Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" actors Karyn Parsons and Daphne Reid.
