Tim Hortons' new apparel line will include a jacket with built-in breakfast sandwich pocket
Tim Hortons is hoping Canadians will splurge on $100 jackets with insulated breakfast sandwich pockets the next time they pick up their morning java.
The coffee giant is launching a limited edition clothing line to celebrate National Coffee Day on Sept. 29.
The merch collection, dubbed Tims Run Club," is said to be in honour of the millions of Canadians" who grab Tim Hortons on the go ... without any actual running involved.
The lineup will include windbreakers that range from $64.99 to $99.99, a hat, socks, slides, sweatbands, and a T-shirt.
The merch includes insulated pockets on its windbreakers for keeping your breakfast sandwich warm, and elbow padding for maximum comfort" while resting your arm out the car window at a drive-thru, said Hope Bagozzi, Chief Marketing Officer at Tim Hortons in a written statement by the company.
This follows a push of marketing campaigns from Tim Hortons in the past, including Timbiebs merchandise, a collaborative apparel with Justin Bieber which resold for thousands of dollars. For National Coffee Day last year, the company launched merchandise inspired by their double-double coffee, which Tim Hortons said sold out within minutes."
The marketing direction and slew of new product announcements had some experts wondering if the attempts to lure new, younger customers was confusing to the brand's loyal following.
Tim Hortons also made headlines recently after privacy watchdogs found the company's mobile app had been gathering vast amounts of private consumer data. As a provisional settlement, the company offered customers a free coffee and doughnut - a move that received some swift public backlash.
The drop will be offered first to Tims Rewards members from 9 to 11 a.m. on Sept. 29, and will be available to the general public shortly after.
