Report: Wilson underwent procedure on throwing shoulder after TNF loss
Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson underwent a procedure to relieve discomfort near his throwing shoulder following Denver's Thursday Night Football loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5, sources told Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
The 33-year-old received a platelet-rich plasma injection Friday in Los Angeles to address a strained latissimus dorsi, Rapoport and Pelissero report.
The injury is reportedly similar to the one that sidelined Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott for most of training camp last year.
Wilson appeared on Denver's injury report this past week. Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett said Monday that Wilson injured his shoulder in the team's Week 4 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.
The nine-time Pro Bowler reportedly plans to keep playing through the ailment. The Broncos visit the Los Angeles Chargers for a Monday Night Football showdown in Week 6 following their 12-9 loss to Indianapolis.
Wilson joined Denver this year after 10 seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. He's struggled through his first five games with the Broncos, completing just 59.4% of his passes for four touchdowns against three interceptions.
Denver's offense has averaged just 16 points per game in 2022.
