Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera abruptly left his postgame press conference Thursday night after answering a question about the team's acquisition of Carson Wentz.

Asked about an ESPN report that suggested team owner Dan Snyder was the driving force behind the offseason move to trade for the veteran quarterback, Rivera responded in part:

"Everybody keeps wanting to say I didn't want anything to do with Carson. Well, bullshit. I'm the fucking guy that pulled out the sheets of paper, that looked at the analytics, that watched the tape."

Rivera taking accountability for the Wentz move comes days after the head coach made headlines by answering "quarterback" when asked why the Commanders were struggling relative to the rest of their division. Rivera later apologized to the team and to the media for the comment.

Wentz had completed 132 of 210 attempts for 1,390 yards, 10 touchdowns, and six interceptions entering Thursday's contest, where he went 12-of-22 for no touchdowns and no interceptions.

The Commanders and their new quarterback have struggled to find consistency so far. The team is 2-4 following a 12-7 victory over the Chicago Bears on Thursday night but remains in the NFC East basement.
