Denver Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett says he plans to talk to Melvin Gordon about the running back's lack of playing time in Monday's loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

Gordon spent the majority of the game on the sideline and didn't see the field after halftime. He logged just nine snaps, while other running backs Mike Boone and Latavius Murray played 21 and 27 snaps, respectively.

"We're going to have a conversation," Hackett said Tuesday, according to Andrew Mason of 104.3 The Fan. "Melvin didn't do anything wrong. We just didn't have a lot of plays (after halftime)."

Gordon said postgame that it "hurt" watching the defeat from the sideline.

"It sucked knowing that I wasn't able to do anything about it - go out there and help my team win," the running back told reporters following the contest.

The veteran's nine snaps were his lowest amount of the season. He logged 15 carries for 54 yards on 41 snaps in Week 6 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Gordon started 16 games for the Broncos last season, compiling 918 yards and eight rushing touchdowns.
