Another million-dollar lottery ticket has been sold on Hamilton Mountain.

Hamilton retiree Larry Culp is the latest Lotto Max millionaire after taking home a Maxmillions prize of $1 million in the Sept. 23 draw.

A regular lottery player for 40 years, Culp, 67, enjoys playing Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49. He plays a mix of numbers and quick picks.

In an Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation news release, Culp said when he checked his ticket early one Saturday morning using the OLG app, he initially thought he had won $1,000.

I was so excited I ran into the bedroom to tell my partner, who was still asleep," he said in the release. She woke up and checked the ticket for herself. That's when she told me I had won $1 million. I didn't believe it - I had to scan it again, and that's when I realized it was real."

Culp has big plans for his windfall.

I'm going to take my siblings to Las Vegas to celebrate and go to an NHL game while we're there. Then I am going to treat my girlfriend to a trip to Italy," he said. It's a wonderful windfall that I intend to share with my children and grandchildren."

Culp's winning ticket was purchased at Goldie's Variety on Mohawk Road.
