Brantford police arrest suspect in fatal stabbing
Brantford police have arrested a suspect wanted in connection to a fatal stabbing.
In a press release, police said around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, officers responded to a call in the area of Cayuga Street in Brantford. At the scene, officers located a male victim who had been stabbed.
The victim was transported to hospital, but despite life-saving efforts" the male succumbed to his injuries, according to the release.
Police put out an alert to the public Saturday morning noting that they were searching for Nicholas Craig, 20, in connection to the stabbing and that he was wanted to for second-degree murder.
Craig was seen in the Eagle Place neighbourhood around the time of the incident.
Police later announced around 1:45 p.m Saturday afternoon that he had been arrested, based on a tip from an alert citizen."
Residents are being warned of a heavy police presence in the area as their investigation continues.
Brantford police are asking those with information or video footage from the area at the time of the stabbing are asked to call 519-756-7050.
