Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf suffered a patellar tendon injury in his team's Week 7 contest against the Los Angeles Chargers, head coach Pete Carroll said Monday on Seattle Sports radio.

Metcalf will not require surgery, but his status for Sunday's Week 8 game against the New York Giants is currently unknown.

"We got a really good report," Carroll said, according to team reporter John Boyle. "He hurt his patellar tendon some ... It's a great report."

There is no timeline for Metcalf's return, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Seattle reportedly intends to monitor Metcalf's recovery as he rehabs the injury.

Carroll added that Metcalf wants to practice Wednesday but said that may not be realistic.

Metcalf was carted to the locker room in the first half of the Seahawks' 37-23 win over the Chargers and did not return.

The 24-year-old has 31 catches for 418 yards and two touchdowns this season.
