Chargers' Jackson out for season; Williams to miss time
Los Angeles Chargers cornerback J.C. Jackson is out for the season after rupturing his patellar tendon in Sunday's loss to the Seattle Seahawks, head coach Brandon Staley announced Monday, according to The Athletic's Daniel Popper.
Staley added that a sprained ankle will keep wide receiver Mike Williams sidelined for "weeks."
Jackson was carted off with an air cast on his right leg after going down awkwardly on a touchdown pass in the second quarter.
Los Angeles signed Jackson to a five-year, $82.5-million deal in the offseason. He was benched for the entire second half and overtime during the team's Week 6 victory over the Denver Broncos.
Williams was carted from the sideline to the locker room after being helped off the field in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game. He struggled to put any weight on his leg as he exited.
The 28-year-old recorded seven receptions for 86 yards and one touchdown before the injury.
The Chargers have been banged up at wide receiver, with Keenan Allen missing five games before returning Sunday. However, Allen played only 23 offensive snaps while catching two passes for 11 yards. Jalen Guyton is also out for the season due to a torn ACL.
Los Angeles heads into its bye week with a 4-3 record.
