Two teens charged and one suspect at large after weekend shooting near Hess Village
Hamilton police have made two more arrests and are searching for a 19-year-old Hamilton man after a home invasion Sunday afternoon in which an 18-year-old was shot.
Police were called to a residence at George and Caroline streets, just east of Hess Village, shortly after 1 p.m. Oct. 23 and found the 18-year-old with non-life-threatening injuries from a gunshot.
Officers confirmed several shots had been fired inside the residence. Suspects fled before police arrived.
On Monday, police announced they had arrested 22-year-old Malachi Alleyne-Smart from Hamilton. He is charged with robbery with a firearm, aggravated assault and fail to comply with probation.
On Tuesday, police said they had arrested two teenage females. A 17-year-old from Dunnville and 19-year-old Heather Couroux of Hamilton face charges of robbery with a firearm and aggravated assault. The 17-year-old cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
An arrest warrant has also been issued for Noah Alexander Mervyn Sheridan, 19, from Hamilton, who remains at large.
The incident was one of two shootings over the weekend. There have been at 32 shootings reported in Hamilton this year, involving 13 victims. Three people have been killed. This represents a 13 per cent decrease in the number of shootings compared to this time last year, police said.
The investigation is ongoing. Police continue to ask anyone with security cameras or dash camera footage in the area between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday to check for suspicious activity.
