The Washington Commanders have received trade calls about running back Antonio Gibson, sources told Jordan Schultz, theScore's NFL insider.

Teams are calling the #Commanders about trading for RB Antonio Gibson, sources tell @theScore.

My sense however, is that Washington prefers to keep Gibson, who's formed a formidable 1-2 punch with rookie Brian Robinson Jr. The pair combined for 132 yards in the #Packers' upset.

However, the Commanders prefer to keep Gibson and are only listening to inquiries, Schultz adds.

Head coach Ron Rivera denied the team was entertaining offers for Gibson on Friday. "The running backs room is in a very good place," he said, according to NBC Sports Washington's Pete Hailey.

The third-year tailback lost his starting role to Brian Robinson Jr. in Week 6. However, the Memphis product has remained Washington's most productive runner, leading the team with 273 yards on 71 carries. He's also hauled in 22 receptions for 170 yards and a score.

Gibson has led the Commanders in rushing yards since being selected in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He racked up 795 yards and 11 scores in his rookie campaign.

The 24-year-old ran for a career-high 1,037 yards and hauled in 42 receptions for 294 yards last season.

Gibson is earning $1.05 million in the third year of his rookie contract, which runs through the 2023 season, according to Spotrac.
