Report: Browns open to trading Hunt
The Cleveland Browns are ready to honor Kareem Hunt's trade request, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Hunt reportedly requested a trade back in training camp as he briefly "held in" from practices while pursuing a new contract extension. However, Hunt - who is set to be a free agent this offseason - did not receive a new deal.
The Browns' are unwilling to lose him for nothing in free agency, Schefter adds. The franchise is reportedly looking for a fourth-round draft pick in return for the running back.
The 27-year-old has been part of a dynamic backfield duo with Nick Chubb over the past four seasons. Hunt enjoyed his best campaign with Cleveland in 2020 after racking up 841 rushing yards and 11 total touchdowns.
Hunt has rushed for 263 yards this season, but his workload has decreased recently. The back has logged just nine carries over his last two games.
