Voters want energy networks that support the public good and governments to be accountable for power supply

Just for one moment let's teleport ourselves to a parallel universe where our energy network is a publicly owned asset that exists purely to support the common good.

In this universe, global conglomerates never convinced state governments in most parts of Australia that to build a viable national grid they had to gold-plate their networks and then sell them to the superior management teams in the C-suite.
