Multiple teams reached out to the NFL this week to inquire about pushing back the trade deadline from its current spot after Week 8 to after either Week 10 or Week 12, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The idea is reportedly set to be discussed at the NFL's general manager committee meetings later in November before being potentially presented for a vote at the owners' meetings in the spring.

The proposal comes after the busiest trade deadline day in NFL history. A record 10 deals were made Tuesday, including trades for pass-rusher Bradley Chubb, receiver Chase Claypool, and tight end T.J. Hockenson.

There was also substantial movement in the run-up to the deadline, most notably the San Francisco 49ers making a blockbuster deal for star running back Christian McCaffrey on Oct. 21.

The NFL moved the trade deadline from after Week 6 to after Week 8 in 2012.
