Two former Peel Children's Aid Society employees are accused of defrauding the child welfare organization out of more than $250,000.

A 43-year-old man from Ancaster is charged with seven counts of fraud over $5,000 and five counts of utter forged documents.

A 46-year-old man from Acton is charged with three counts of utter forged document.

Peel Regional police said the 43-year-old was the former director of finance, property and information technology at Peel CAS and the 46-year-old the former property maintenance co-ordinator.

They were fired after an internal investigation found they were suspected of defrauding the child welfare organization. In July, Peel CAS contacted police. After an investigation by the fraud bureau, the pair were arrested and charged Nov. 7.

Police alleged the fraud was a purchase and reimbursement scheme" and that the two former employees worked together.

They are scheduled to appear in court in Brampton Jan. 2.
