Two people dead, three others injured after multi-vehicle crash in Norfolk County
Two people were killed and three others - including a child - seriously injured after a multi-vehicle crash in Norfolk County on Thursday afternoon.
Ontario Provincial Police said in a release that emergency crews responded to the intersection of Highway 24 and Concession 7 of Townsend around 1:40 p.m. for reports of a fatal collision involving an SUV and another vehicle.
One child and two adults from the SUV were taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. An adult passenger in the other car was seriously hurt and airlifted to a Hamilton hospital where they later died, Const. Ed Sanchuk said in an OPP Twitter update at 8:30 p.m. The driver of the other car, meanwhile, was pronounced dead on scene after suffering life-threatening injures.
The driver's and passenger's identities are being withheld pending notification to next of kin.
Police said Highway 24 between Windham Road 6 and Windham Road 7 will be closed for about six hours - until around 10 p.m. - as officers clear the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
