Brantford police issue public advisory of “high risk” sex offender previously convicted in Niagara
Brantford police have issued a rare public advisory in relation to a high risk" sex offender previously convicted of child sex-related offences in Niagara.
Brantford Police Service on Thursday issued a news release saying Eugene Soucy, 59, is currently living in the southwestern Ontario community and poses a high risk to reoffend or breach terms of his release.
Police said the advisory was issued after careful consideration of all related issues, including privacy concerns, in the belief that it is clearly in the public interest to inform members of the community of (his) release."
Soucy has been convicted of numerous offences which occurred between 1998 and 2013 including multiple counts of prostitution of a person under 18, administering drugs to overcome resistance and sexual interference.
In 2013, he was convicted in a St. Catharines court of several sex-related offences and sentenced to two years behind bars.
In that case, he lured two Hamilton boys, ages 14 and 15, to a Niagara Falls hotel.
Soucy had befriended the teens, offering them work at a construction firm.
At the hotel, however, he offered them alcohol, marijuana and $750 to perform sex acts with each other while he watched.
Police arrested Soucy at a London hotel the following month on warrants for sex-related offences and fraud allegations in a number of provinces.
When arrested, he was with a 17-year-old boy, who told police he had been offered money to have sex with other teens.
A search of the hotel room uncovered marijuana, alcohol, lubricant, massage oil and child pornography.
The Police Services Act allows the disclosure of personal information if it's reasonably believed a person poses a significant risk of harm.
