Two arrested in Halton Hills after shots fired at tow truck in London
Halton police arrested two men in Halton Hills following a shooting in London that officers believe is related to a rivalry between tow truck companies.
On Saturday, Nov. 12 at approximately 10:20 p.m., London police said the alleged victim was driving a tow truck in London's Adelaide Street South and Osgood Drive area when a rival company's tow truck began following him.
Police alleged an occupant of this rival tow truck pulled out a handgun and fired six shots, with five rounds striking the other tow truck's tailgate and one passing through its rear windshield.
According to police, the suspect tow truck then left the area.
No one was injured during this incident.
London police were contacted shortly afterward.
They reportedly obtained a description of the suspect tow truck and recovered evidence that a firearm had been discharged in the area.
London police officers said their investigation led them to Halton Hills where Halton police made two arrests in the 10 Side Road and Trafalgar Road area at 12:19 a.m., on Sunday, Nov. 13.
A 21-year-old London man and a 25-year-old London man have been jointly charged with occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm, reckless discharge of a firearm with intent to injure and possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence.
The 25-year-old man has also been charged with breach of probation, and two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.
The 21-year-old man faces an additional charge of failing to comply with a release order and failing to stop for police.
The pair were scheduled to appear in a London court Sunday, Nov. 13.
The charges have not been proven in court.
