Project Menace sees $1.1M worth of drugs seized in Brantford and Brant County
A joint investigation involving Brantford Police Service and Six Nations Police Service has resulted in the seizure of more than $1.1 million worth of drugs and two guns.
In a press release, Brantford police said in early fall of this year, the forces launched a two-month probe, named Project Menace, involving several suspected drug dealers who are alleged to have been trafficking cocaine and fentanyl in Brantford and throughout southwestern Ontario.
Police said in the early-morning hours of Nov. 17, officers executed six search warrants throughout Brantford and Brant County with the help of tactical units from the Ontario Provincial Police Service and Guelph Police Service.
As a result of the investigation, police said they seized an estimated $1,178,310 worth of drugs, two loaded handguns, a switchblade knife, two vehicles, an estimated $200,000 worth of jewelry and an unknown amount of prescription medication.
Two men from Brantford, a 24-year-old and a 27-year-old, are facing numerous drug- and firearm-related charges, according to the release.
In a statement, Brantford police Chief Rob Davis said the project marked the largest seizure of its kind" through a joint investigation with Six Nations police, noting he was incredibly proud" of the collaborative effort.
