Fire at Tim Hortons in Oakville under investigation by Halton police

Halton Regional Police are investigating a fire at an Oakville Tim Hortons that officers believe was deliberately-set.

Police were called to the Tim Hortons on Hyde Park Gate around 6:30 a.m. Sunday (Nov. 27) for a report of a garbage can being set on fire.

Police arrived in the area and located and arrested a man on foot near the scene.

Oakville firefighters were able to put out the fire with no additional damage beyond the garbage can.

A 36-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with arson.

The charge has not been proven in court.
