Police investigate shooting at central Hamilton home
Hamilton police are investigating a targeted shooting at a central Hamilton home Wednesday night.
Police were called to the semi-detached home on Minto Avenue at Bristol Street around 9:20 p.m. after residents heard gunshots, said Const. Indy Bharaj. No one was hurt.
On scene, officers confirmed a shooting had occurred.
On Thursday morning, at least 10 bullet holes were visible in the window panes and brick exterior of 25 Minto Ave., including in a main-level window at the back of the house and an upper-level window at the front.
There have been several shootings in the area this year, including one at a house on Minto Avenue, near Barton Street East, around 10 p.m. Nov. 10. No one was hurt in that shooting. Two men, who police allege were identified on surveillance video, were arrested walking through a nearby park and charged with firearm offences.
This marks the 38th shooting in Hamilton this year. Thirteen people have been shot - three of which were homicide victims.
Hamilton police are asking residents in the area of the latest shooting to review security camera footage between the hours of 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. and report any suspicious activity to police. Anyone driving in the area with dash camera footage is also asked to contact police.
The shooting remains under investigation by the criminal investigations branch. Police are expected to be in the area Thursday canvassing for witnesses.
