Fire engulfs Stoney Creek garage

A detached garage at a home on Glover Road in Stoney Creek sustained significant damage in a fire overnight.

Hamilton fire was called to 260 Glover Rd., between Barton Street and Highway 8, around 3:24 a.m. Friday. The first crews on scene found heavy black smoke and a two-car garage fully involved in flames, the fire department said.

Firefighters quickly attacked the blaze, preventing further spread to vehicles and nearby buildings.

The garage sustained significant damage, but an estimated dollar loss is not yet known.

The cause of the fire is also not yet known, said Hamilton fire.
