Sean Payton: 'I know that I want to coach again'
Former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton is intent on coaching again.
"I think sooner than later," Payton told Tom Brady's "Let's Go!" podcast when asked when people might see him on the sideline again. Payton added: "I know that I want to coach again."
Payton announced he was stepping down as head coach of the Saints after the 2021 season. He spent 15 years in the position, finishing with a 161-97 record.
The 58-year-old won a Super Bowl at the end of the 2009 season and led the team to nine playoff appearances.
"I want to find the right spot. ... It's still about the people. Because when it's all done and it's quiet, I don't think it's the money or the crowd cheers or the trophies or any of that other stuff. I think it's about the journey with the people that you really enjoy," Payton said.
The NFL currently has two head coaching vacancies after the Carolina Panthers and Indianapolis Colts fired their coaches earlier this season.
