Hamilton police searching for Shirley Love
Hamilton police have called in a significant number of resources in their ongoing search for a missing 80-year-old woman last seen near Glendale Golf Course Tuesday afternoon.
Shirley Love left her residence just off Mount Albion Road around 2 p.m. and was last seen walking south. She has dementia and police and family are worried about her safety, particularly given the cold.
The 80-year-old is quite mobile" and may have been able to walk a great distance, said Const. Indy Bharaj.
Family noticed her missing and immediately searched the area for about an hour before contacting police a little after 3 p.m.
By about 5 p.m., police had set up a command post at the golf course that remains in place Wednesday.
Police called in the canine unit, which searched the area, and extra officers. They also used two drones to search the area Tuesday night. Bharaj said officers have searched trails in the area as well as down the escarpment toward Rosedale Arena.
The public order unit has been called in Wednesday to expand the search.
Police are asking residents in the area to check their backyards and police are also working to check surveillance video.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Division 1 staff sergeant at 905-546-4725.
