Tim Hortons is introducing some major changes to the popular Tims Rewards program.

The program sees customers use either their Rewards card or the Rewards card App to earn points towards free food and drinks.

Starting on Feb. 21, 2023, the Tims Rewards Program will change to a spend-based program, giving customers "the opportunity to make every dollar count," the company said in an "important update" to card/app users Thursday, Dec. 15.

You will earn 10 points on every $1 you spend, rather than 10 points per purchase under the current program.

Also, under the "new program," the minimum spend requirement will be reduced from 50 cents to 10 cents and you will have more Rewards options, Tim Hortons said.

To celebrate the launch of the new Tims Rewards Program, Tim Hortons said, registered Tims Rewards members can earn double the points on eligible purchases from February 21 until February 24, 2023.

Under the new program, 300 points would get you a free donut, hash brown or cookie. Four hundred points would get you a free coffee tea, bagel or other baked goods. For a full list of reward levels and changes, see here: https://www.timhortons.ca/newtimsrewards
