Arizona Cardinals quarterback Colt McCoy left Sunday's loss to the Denver Broncos due to a concussion.

McCoy appeared to sustain the injury after keeping the ball on a third-and-1 run in the third quarter. He remained on the ground for an extended period before leaving to the locker room under his own power.

Head coach Kliff Kingsbury said postgame that McCoy is in concussion protocol.

Trace McSorley replaced McCoy following the injury. Arizona entered the Week 15 matchup with just two healthy passers after starter Kyler Murray suffered a season-ending ACL injury last week.

Kingsbury said prior to the matchup that the emergency quarterback would likely be running back Corey Clement in the event of injuries to both McCoy and McSorley.

McCoy completed 13-of-21 pass attempts for 78 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception prior to his early exit. The veteran signal-caller has posted a 3-2 record in his starts for the Cardinals over the past two seasons.
