Your Hamilton guide to what’s open and closed over the holidays

Here's what's open and closed over the holidays to help you plan your days:

City of Hamilton services

All City of Hamilton offices will be closed from Dec. 26 until Jan. 2. For emergency services related to roads, water mains, sewer systems and safety, Hamiltonians can call 905-546-2489.

All city museums will be closed on Dec. 25 and 26. The Housing Service office at 350 King St. E. will be closed from Dec. 26 until Jan. 2.

City's recreational centres, senior centres and arenas will be closed on Dec. 25, Dec. 26 and Jan. 1.

There will be no changes in city waste collection during the week of Dec. 26 to Dec. 30 and Jan. 2 to Jan. 6.

Real Christmas trees will be collected during the first and second weeks of January on residents' regular garbage and recycling collection day.

People can also drop off their Christmas trees at a community recycling centre.

The city's animal services office counter and shelter at 257 Dartnell Rd. will closed on Dec. 26 and Jan. 2. Gage Park Tropical Greenhouse will be closed from Dec. 25 until Dec. 27, and Jan. 1 and Jan. 2.

Libraries

All Hamilton Public Library locations will be open until 1 p.m. on Dec. 24, and Dec. 31, and until 6 p.m. between Dec. 28 and Dec. 30.

The libraries will be closed on Dec. 25, 26, and 27, and on Jan. 1 and 2.

Transportation

HSR will have regular services on Dec. 24. Special holiday service on Dec. 25 will end at 9 p.m.

On Dec. 26, HSR will follow Saturday service on routes 1, 2, 21, 25, 26, 41 and 43; all other routes operate on a Sunday schedule. HSR and ATS service is free on Dec. 31 after 6 p.m. with extended service operating on all routes that have Saturday evening service.

An additional departure on most downtown routes will be added at 1:45 a.m., with final departures from downtown in the morning. Crosstown routes 11, 41, 43, and 44 will be extended accordingly.

Special holiday service on Jan. 1 will end at 9 p.m.

Royal Botanical Gardens

RBG will be closing early on Christmas Eve, with the last admission at 2 p.m. It will remain closed on Dec. 25 and 26. On Dec. 31, the last admission will be at 2 p.m. It will be closed Jan. 1.

The parking lot gates to Princess Point, Cherry Hill Gate and the Arboretum will also be closed Dec. 25, 26, and Jan. 1.

Hamilton Conservation Authority

The HCA main administrative office in Ancaster will be closed from Dec. 23 at noon until Jan. 2.

Hamilton Farmers' Market

The Farmers' Market will be closed from Dec. 25 until Dec. 28, and will return to its regular hours from Dec. 29.

Warplane Heritage Museum

Warplane Heritage Museum in Mount Hope will close at noon on Dec. 24 until Jan. 3.

Canada Post

Post offices are closed and there is no delivery Dec. 25, Dec. 26 or Jan. 2.

LCBO and Beer Store

Beer Store locations will close at 6 p.m. on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31. All locations will be closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, while three locations - 1111 Barton St. E; 150 Barton St. E and 282 Parkdale Ave. N will be open on Dec. 26 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

LCBO locations will close at 6 p.m. on Dec. 24 and will remain closed on Dec. 25.

Retail Shopping

Most retail stores will be closed between Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

Lime Ridge Mall will close early on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31 at 5 p.m. and will be closed all day on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

Eastgate Square will close early on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31 at 5 p.m. The mall will be closed all day on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

Mapleview Centre in Burlington will close early on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve at 5 p.m., and will be closed all day on Christmas Day and Jan 1.

Burlington Centre will be closed at 5 p.m. on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31, and will be closed all day on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
