Report: Eagles' Johnson to delay surgery, expected to play in postseason

Philadelphia Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson will delay surgery on his torn adductor and begin rehabbing to prepare for the playoffs, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Johnson suffered the injury late in the fourth quarter of the Eagles' Week 16 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The 32-year-old left the game and did not return.

Johnson consulted numerous experts before opting to put off surgery, according to Rapoport. He will have two or three weeks to prepare for Philadelphia's first playoff game, depending on whether the Eagles earn a first-round bye.

The star right tackle has started every game for Philadelphia this season and earned his fourth career Pro Bowl nod last week. Johnson has not allowed a sack since November 2020.

Jack Driscoll is expected to fill in at right tackle for the Eagles' last two regular-season games. Driscoll, 25, has started 14 NFL games since Philadelphia drafted him in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The Eagles face the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
