Karina Gould's New Year's levee was interrupted by two protesters Sunday afternoon.

The Burlington MP was speaking to about 120 people at the Art Gallery of Burlington when two protesters carrying a banner that read No Fighter Jets. Green Jobs not War Jobs' walked to the front of the room and stood beside Gould.

Earlier, there were about 20 people outside the art gallery protesting Canada's decision to spend $7-billion on F-35 fighter jets.

Though people in the audience called for the protesters to sit down, Gould gave the two women an opportunity to speak for about five minutes.

After letting them speak, Gould asked if she could proceed. When the protesters continued to chant, two RCMP officers came to the front and walked the protesters out of the room without incident.
